Sent the Brand New Moon Man to the beach for some R&R.

6. Fuck I love this band. Finally got to hear ‘Moshi Moshi’ AND ‘Flying At Tree Level’ live. (I really need to stop listening to their discography on repeat…)

also, this is such an awkward looking photo but it’s one of the only ones with Derrick in it.

This fucking show. One of the most amazing nights of my life.

I remember calculating the amount of hours spent travelling to this show and thinking “that was totally worth it”.(just found the time/distance and it was roughly 30 hours/6,050km just to get there - not including getting back, jfc)

13. The rest of 2011

So I recently played my first two bouts as part of the Dublin Roller Girls travel team. We lost to Brighton Rockers but won against Manchester Roller Derby. Both games were really exciting and fun and I hope I make the travel team again next year!

But before that, I have November & December to enjoy!

• Liberty is coming to stay this weekend! I haven’t seen her in about three years and I’m super excited! We’re going to lounge around watching films and go into Dublin and maybe the Guinness Storehouse tour and have some drinks and then on Sunday we’re going to hang out with Kat & Andrew and Damo and probably Cian too because it’s WFTDA Championship weekend! I’m being good and not watching the first two days of bouts, but Sunday will be full of roller derby and take away food and more junk food and all that!
• Anna Calvi the following weekend with Matt should be fun!
• The weekend after that is what I am calling the Big North America Tour with Kat, Andrew, Johan & Damo! This includes:
• Boston & seeing my sister for a few days
• Long Island & seeing none other than Brand freaking New!!
• NYC for a few hours ha!
• Toronto & the Roller Derby World Cup! FUCK YEAH!
It doesn’t get much better than that for two weeks!
• After that I have an intra-league bout which hopefully I’ll get to play in and then it’s Christmas!

So yes, the rest of my year is going to be epic! (:

& yes, I am procrastinating in work right now

• Just about managed to get Brand New tickets this morning

Ticketmaster was being a prick and not giving the option for delivery to Ireland or box office collection so I couldn’t order my tickets from them. See tickets kept giving an unknown error when I went to order. Eventually got Manchester tickets on gigsandtours and had to phone the roundhouse for a balcony seat in London.

but the important thing is, Brand New x4 in February! :D

• Gigs

So this week I’ve been credit card friendly buying gig tickets (mostly of the Brand New variety) so coming up I have the following gigs to look forward to:

• Manchester Orchestra, The Xcerts @ Bristol (2 Oct 2011)
• City & Colour @ Dublin (20 Oct 2011)
• The Blanks @ Dublin (17 Nov 2011)
• Brand New @ Long Island (28 Nov 2011)
• Brand New @ Manchester (9 Feb 2012)
• The Black Keys @ London (10 Feb 2012)
• Brand New @ London (11 Feb 2012)
• Brand New @ Birmingham (15 Feb 2012)
• Brand New @ Newcastle (16 Feb 2012)

I also just realised that Bon Iver is playing the same date as City & Colour - I am not impressed! I’m also missing Jeff Magnum (Neutral Milk Hotel) because I’ll be travelling from Boston to Toronto :(

I’m also catching a Led Zeppelin cover band playing all of Led Zeppelin IV on the first of October - should be awesome!

There needs to be more gigs coming up in Dubiln that I want to go to :-/ It would save me an awful lot of money!
